About Company
Company history and description:

In 1949, Charles A Gray moved from the small community of Stanton, TX to Midland and formed C. A. Gray Plumbing Company. Three short years later, a 15-year old plumber’s apprentice, Corky Bosworth, arrived from central Texas and was hired by Mr. Gray.

In 1959, the company added heating and air conditioning to it services. By the early 1960’s Corky was promoted to the management team of C.A. Gray Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. After being focused on residential service and new construction, Corky expanded the business into commercial mechanical contracting. By the 1970’s the company was completing work on motels, apartments, schools, and office projects in many parts of Texas and Oklahoma.

In 1974, Mr. Gray handed the duties of president to Mr. Bosworth and he became an Owner in the company. A few years later and into the early 1980’s, the local economy was in the midst of an oil boom. At that time, Corky realized the company would be better positioned if it focused on Midland and the Permian Basin. In addition, he wanted to become a better corporate citizen.

In 1983 another Permian Basin oil boom came to a halt and company growth was temporarily impacted. In 1986, Corky’s son, Randy Bosworth, returned from the University of Texas and entered the business. In the summer of 1987, Mr. Bosworth purchased the remaining stock from the Gray family and obtained sole ownership. At that time, the company changed its name to The Bosworth Company.

Considering the poor economic conditions of the time, Corky’s purchase of the company was a great personal financial risk. Yet, he had confidence in Midland and his employees.

Over the next 20 years, under his industry experience and the entrepreneurial strength of Randy the company experienced rapid growth in annual revenues. This growth came from both organic means and acquisition of other companies in the marketplace.

Corky and Randy’s vision and investment paid off – The Bosworth Company has become the market leader and has provided hundreds of jobs and has given back to the community in many ways.

These words, published in 1998, continue to ring true:

“Our employees are our greatest asset. We want to make this a place where they’ll enjoy coming to work. We want them to know we care.” – Randy Bosworth, Corky’s son and then Vice President of The Bosworth Company

“We’re very proud of Midland and the success it has provided us. Next to caring for our employees, the most important thing we do is give back to the community.” – Corky Bosworth

The current management team is fully committed to continuing the great legacy that Corky and Randy provided our company.
